Tedi's impressions from Aydin University - Istanbul

An unexpected adventure

"When I decided to apply for the Erasmus + program, I didn't have any idea of what awaits me".

Erasmus+ Period: 01.09.2021 - 30.10.2021

I spent two months in one of the most cosmopolitan cities on Earth - Istanbul. At first glance, I admired its atmosphere and size. Situated on seven hills and called the Pearl of the Orient, this is a city where it's hard not to fall in love. Istanbul is much more than an ancient city. It is for those who know what they want from life and know how to live! One of the most important cities in the world, located on two continents - Asia and Europe. A unique combination of ancient traditions, amazing food and culture. It is no coincidence that Napoleon said: "If the whole world was one state, Istanbul would be the capital."

The dormitories and campus of Aydin University - Istanbul impressed me with their modern architecture. The warm welcome in the international relations office at the university was just a preparation for my perfect time in the country.

Turkey is not to be underestimated. I had the opportunity to work side by side with world-renowned medical professionals. The attitude towards me has always been more than perfect. I was accepted as part of the team from the first day. In addition to the great professionalism and good command of English, they made me feel part of the "family" of Multidisciplinary Hospital VM MedicalPark Floria. I gained invaluable experience and learned how a hospital that meets world standards should function. The way of communication between colleagues and doctor-patient impressed me.

I never dreamed of becoming a surgeon, but after my work with Prof. Dr. Khalil Alish - Specialist in Bariatric Surgery and Diabetes and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hedie Dagdeviren - Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, I discovered a new inspiration in the field of medicine.

I want to express my great gratitude to my teachers during my Erasmus. It was a pleasure to meet such great people and professionals.

Thanks !
