Report of ERASMUS Plus Staff Mobility Training
Sofia Medical University
Erasmus+ Period: 07 to 11 April 2025
Back to Fez from Sofia, I’m grateful to both teams from International Integration and Project Funding/Erasmus + Office at the Sofia Medical University as well as the Office of International Cooperation and Partnership at Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University of Fez. I highly appreciate all the efforts deployed to make my mobility to Sofia as enjoyable as possible.
This visit was an opportunity for me to meet with Prof. PENCHEVA-GENOVA, Vice Rector for International Integration and Project Funding as well as with different heads and colleagues from different departments of the Medical University and University Hospitals.
The program was enriching and a good step forward to strengthen the collaboration between our institutions.
My program visit was as follows :
Monday, April 7, was a holiday for the Sofia Medical University and I was kindly invited by Prof. PENCHEVA to attend a Concert of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
The days after, I visited the following :
1- Pediatric Oncology Department at the ISUL University Hospital :
where I got the opportunity to discover the hemato-oncology patient pathway and the bone marrow transplatation. In addition we discussed the day to day issues of care and follow up of these patients.
2- Clinical Laboratory of the Alexandrovska University Hospital :
Meeting with the head of the laboratory who gave me an overview on the development of the laboratory and the new equipment acquisitions aiming to develop new techniques that enhance the quality of the tests performed within the clinical laboratory.
In addition to that, as an immunologist, I got a detailed visit to the Immunology laboratory (Humoral immunity, cellular immunity, transplantation and autoimmunity) as well as the Biobank unit.
3- Department of Internal Medicine of the Alexandrovska University Hospital :
Meeting with colleagues of the cardiology ward who explained to me their clinical reasoning while dealing with their patients. This was illustrated with a discussion of cases admitted to the cardiology and emergency wards.
As an immunologist, I also visited the gastroenterology ward and discussed with the colleagues an IBD case.
4- National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases :
Meeting with the head of Immunology Department. It was a good opportunity to share experience and futures directions for the development of screening of infectious diseases and research opportunities and projects.
In conclusion, I could say, from my side, that this mobility was enriching and fruitful with a positive impact on the overall collaboration between our institutions.
In addition, as I mentioned to Prof. PENCHEVA, I would be pleased and honored to go back to Sofia for lecturing in Immunlogy and Immunopathology.
Of course we will be delighted to welcome in Fez Prof. PENCHEVA and Her team as well as diffrent Professors and colleagues from the Sofia Medical University.
Looking forward to perpetuating our collaboration.
