Erasmus+ Period: from March to May 2025
Dear Erasmus Team!
I would like to sincerely thank you for the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus mobility program (from March to May 2025, Contract №: 2022-1-BG01-KA171-HED-000074631). My time in Sofia has been truly unforgettable—both personally and professionally—and I’m grateful to have had the chance to grow through such a meaningful experience.
As a midwifery student, this internship allowed me to apply my knowledge in a real clinical setting, observe different approaches to maternal care, and expand my understanding of women’s health in an international context. I worked alongside skilled professionals who were incredibly generous with their time and guidance. From assisting in prenatal checkups to observing deliveries, every moment was valuable and deeply educational.
One of the most impactful aspects of the experience was learning how midwifery is practiced in Bulgaria. I appreciated seeing the differences and similarities with my home country and how cultural practices shape maternal care. I also improved my communication skills—especially in navigating language differences with patients and colleagues—which I know will benefit me throughout my future career.
Outside of the hospital, living in Sofia was a beautiful and eye-opening adventure. The city has a unique spirit, with a rich mix of history and modern life. I loved exploring its landmarks, like Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, walking in the parks, and visiting the nearby mountains. Bulgarian culture was new to me, but I found it warm, welcoming, and full of traditions that made my stay even more special.
Of course, adjusting to a new environment came with challenges, but each one helped me become more independent, adaptable, and confident. This experience has not only shaped me as a future midwife but also as a person.
Thank you again for this incredible opportunity. I will always carry these memories with me, both in my heart and in my future work.
