Erasmus+ Period: 17 March - 16 May 2025
My name is Klajdi Kaca, and I am a third-year Bachelor's student in Nursing at the Faculty of Technical Medical Sciences, Tirana. During this academic year, I completed my clinical internship at Tokuda Hospital in Sofia through the Erasmus+ program. This experience was made possible thanks to the close cooperation between our faculty and the Medical University of Sofia, who welcomed us with professionalism and provided all the necessary support for our clinical training.
Throughout this experience, I had the opportunity to engage in various clinical activities, such as assisting in medical procedures, providing care to patients in different units, and monitoring their health conditions. I learned new techniques for patient management and improved my communication skills with patients and colleagues in a multicultural environment. One of the most valuable aspects was being exposed to a different healthcare system, which helped me better understand international standards of care.
What surprised me was the high level of organization and collaboration among the medical staff, as well as the advanced technology used in patient care. Living in a foreign country was a unique experience. While it was challenging at first, I quickly adapted and became familiar with Bulgarian culture. I visited historical and cultural sites such as Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Old Town of Plovdiv, and the Rila Monastery. I also explored the natural beauty and architectural charm of Bulgaria by visiting places like Toriko Tarnovo, which left a lasting impression on me due to their peaceful atmosphere, stunning landscapes, and rich historical heritage.
I was deeply impressed by the hospitality of the local people — I fondly remember a traditional evening where we were invited by a Bulgarian family and had the chance to try typical dishes such as banitsa and shopska salad.
This experience has had a profound impact on me, both professionally and personally. I gained more self-confidence, became more independent, and expanded my international professional network.
I am truly grateful for this extraordinary opportunity and for the continuous support from the Faculty of Technical Medical Sciences in Tirana, as well as for the warm welcome and invaluable assistance from the Medical University of Sofia, who made this experience so enriching and inspiring.
